Christmas Celebration at AAIS

The genesis of this celebration happened in Grade 4 classroom. Here is how it happened: ‘Our unit of inquiry was on the different forms of art, the ways of appreciating them and the relationship between the creator and the audience. As the unit progressed, we realized that creating and responding to art helps us understand the world around us’; shares Siddharth of Grade 4.
The students along with their Teachers and Parent volunteers scripted a performance which incorporated a simple, yet powerful message – ‘The spirit of love and giving at the heart of every family tradition is a meaningful experience! We learn to appreciate and respect each other’ Arjun, another student added: ‘Earlier, we had a unit on buildings and structures. Combining our learning from both these units, we attempted to build the props for our play’. As is the spirit of Christmas, our Santa Claus made a special appearance to add to the cheer and celebration! 🎅🎁 What is celebration without food…
Parents of AAIS took the initiative to bake cakes and expose our students to making a cake. Their enthusiasm to incorporate math learning showed they embraced Transdisciplinary learning! It was a delight to see them leave an Instruction manual and measuring tools for students to self explore the mixing of the dough!
The Joy of giving was evident when the eyes of students gleamed while they offered the cup cakes to custodials and their teachers. There’s nothing more Joyous to see when children at this young age put other’s happiness and joy before theirs!

The celebration was a meaningful and thought provoking experience!
