Aadi Street Festival was started by our 1st batch of DP Students as we are located in a geographically traditional area and to bring the rich spirit of the month of Aadi. This has become a legacy project and every year Students of High School take it up and conduct the festival.
Even though it is moved into the auspicious month of Aavani, we are back with the same spirit and enthusiasm. This festival is celebrated during the Tamil month. We try to innovate the festival in many different ways.
Let’s start off by talking about why the Aadi Festival started. Well, a group of 12th graders came up with a fun and fantastic idea of a fundraiser for their Service Learning project.
During the festival, students of all grades would put forward their creative mindset by up-cycling old waste materials into new looks, to come up with different interesting arts and craft pieces, delicious and traditional food, and different types of modern and classical game stalls to boost the mood.
All THE stalls have been crafted and designed by the AAIS FAMILY.
We always look forward to wonderful support and suggestions from our community for our growth and betterment. This was a fun event done for a serious cause. The money collected during the previous years had been used for providing learning support materials for the students in Chennai corporation school, Rangarajapuram.
This year we raised funds for an OLD AGE HOME called KAAKUM KARANGAL. Kaakkum Karangal is a series of old age homes/orphanages set in several areas throughout Chennai. The one we went to was in West Mambalam and was an old age home. We met the person in charge of the place, introduced ourselves and told her what our school was organizing. She took us through the place and also briefed us about the day-to-day requirements for the home.
This visit and the conversations with the people made us understand the kind of help we could extend-in the form of providing monthly groceries, medicines and also in providing them with equipment like walking sticks or wheelchairs.
