At AAIS, education transcends the confines of conventional frameworks, blending the best of the IB and Cambridge Programmes while extending beyond their boundaries. Our educational journey, encapsulated in ‘The AAIS Path,’ draws inspiration from ancient Indian philosophy, emphasising the profound lessons offered by nature, community, society, and self-reflection. From Early Learning to Grade 12, we’ve meticulously crafted a unique pathway that urges students to read, think critically, explore beyond the confines of classrooms, and embrace diverse perspectives. We firmly believe that learning is not just about absorbing content but also mastering the art of learning itself. Our emphasis lies in developing essential skills like collaboration, communication, research, and critical thinking, all while instilling values such as commitment, integrity, respect, and independence.
At AAIS, learning is student-centered, sparked by each student’s innate curiosity. It revolves around understanding concepts, encourages experiential learning, and places a strong focus on the practical application of knowledge.
Children learn in contexts that are meaningful, relevant and engaging. For instance, in a unit on Celebrations, they inquire into their home and family traditions, examine similarities and differences between their traditions and that of their peers, learn about celebrations of their counterparts across the world through collaborations – and partake in celebrating the human commonalities and diversities.
Students learn to conduct research on issues of local and global significance, through a systematic process of developing their research skills. They learn about ethical use of information, learn to interpret, analyse and synthesize data and present their findings appropriately.
There are several opportunities provided for students to initiate responsible action in the community and environment, as a result of their learning. They experience the joys of kindness, compassion and giving, as they initiate and work on projects for the benefit of the community and the environment.
Through their engagement in a variety of team games, Sports activities, Theatre and group projects, students develop essential attributes of trust, trustworthiness, integrity, fairness and justice.
The emphasis on learning the arts forms, as well as learning through the art forms of Theatre, Music and Visual Arts helps children develop their sense of discovery, imagination, originality, thinking, problem solving and creating. The Arts are learnt through a developmentally-appropriate curriculum and are integrated into the units of study.
Students develop a mindset of Inquiry through a repeated process and practice of Inquiry-based learning. They learn to formulate deep questions, pose problems, challenge ideas and seek answers.
