Art Immersion 2022

The art immersion showcase reflects a cultural shift towards art, in which the space organized by students of Grades 6 to 8 becomes a site for the display of their best work. Immersion is the act of becoming thoroughly involved with something, pulled into its universe and connecting themselves with their work in the process. When it comes to immersive or experiential art, these works envelop their audience in a full experience.
At AAIS, over the course of 12 weeks, each grade learnt one of the art forms. Grade 6 was immersed into music, while Grade 7 into visual arts and Grade 8 in theatre. Students have been exploring and creating various artworks in an attempt to find and express themselves through art. The culmination of their thoughts through their artistic skills will be showcased.

In music, students practiced different patterns with notation using basic cup sequence games and they explored Bihu songs by working on pitch, dynamics and vibrato. In visual arts, students explored several topics such as portraiture, still life, cubism, printmaking, art history and product design (Lantern), where they learnt to draw the basic structure and alignment of the human facial features and helped students to understand how to compose artwork in a two-dimensional surface. In Theatre, students explored the basics of Mind, Body, Voice in theatre, Stage presence, Energy levels and Usage of Space. They also explored improv, mime and character creation.

In all the various art forms the common aspect was to improve the learners’ focus and timing ability.

In this art immersion showcase, parents & teachers witnessed the combination of music, visual art and theatre. The best work of the students!
